Harbor Homes, HaitiHouse.org Division Chairs the Construction Development Panel of the Global Investments Summit on Haiti

[March 10, 2010 - Miami, FL USA] Haitihouse.org (http://www.haitihouse.org), chaired the opening panel on construction, reconstruction and infrastructure development at the Global Investments Summit in Miami, which brought together a wide range of executives from the public, private and government sectors including many UN and worldwide humanitarian agencies. Highlighting the release of its innovative third generation disaster recovery housing solution – PermaShelter™, the company introduced key speakers supporting the Haitian rebuilding effort.

Working in conjunction with the Hart Lyman Companies LLC, a major U.S. real estate developer with expertise in all aspects of commercial and residential development, demolition, abatement and debris removal, environmental remediation, utility and infrastructure creation, Harbor Homes is master planning several self-contained Haitian resettlement villages.

Hart Lyman has designed the villages to include fresh water sources and human waste treatment, which is the number one sanitation issue facing Haiti today. Once conquered, even in a small way on the village level, waste treatment will lead to greatly improved health conditions for the residents. Once a village location is prepared for installation, trained Haitian crews will be used to install the final products. This is part of a four stage plan to help Haiti expand employment.

On the ground in Haiti, contractual relationships have been established with existing major Haitian construction, equipment and logistics firms ready to prepare sites under direction, receive and transport village housing units and train Haitian installation teams.

The incorporation of the HaitiHouse.org PermaShelter™ self-assembly housing and the cargo2™ village support container units into the turn-key master plan now delivered to the Haitian government, and humanitarian programs worldwide. Harbor Homes is confident the master plan will help alleviate many of the major issues blocking Haitian recovery and advancement.

The stated housing goals of Harbor Homes include manufacture of houses that will lower crowding, improve sanitation, provide safer water, eliminate humidity, create safer environments to lower traumatic injuries, so the medical care available can actually treat people and save lives. PermaShelter™ answers many of these most important needs for a permanent housing solution.

With rapid deployment, PermaShelter™ homes, which fit fourteen to a single shipping container, can be constructed by a handful of people without special skills with only the use of a wrench in less than a half hour each. The cargo2™ container units can be delivered and placed ready-to-use with only final water, sewer or power hookups to be made on-site.

Formerly a private FEMA contractor, Harbor Homes LLC, HaitiHouse™ Division has an impeccable record producing temporary housing, travel trailers, and more for disaster relief inside the United States. After hurricane Katrina, another division was responsible for building and transporting thousands of park model homes for American families.

A pioneer in Indoor Air Quality materials selection, processing and testing, Harbor Homes has delivered housing that far exceeds FEMA requirements for low or no formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds and other contaminants. Harbor Homes, using structural steel frames and steel walls has eliminated almost all wood, adhesives, foam, fiberglass, plastics and items that cause higher toxic levels, which can lead to future health issues.

PermaShelter™ features:

- Easy to ship, place, install, disassemble and relocate – arriving ready to place and bolt panels together.

- Made of galvanized steel frames with corrugated steel walls and vented roofing. All other seams are sealed.

- When anchored, it is structurally improved to now withstand 150 mile per hour winds AND carries a rating of Seismic D for earthquake protection.

- Available immediately for production and delivery in three sizes 7’6” x 18 foot, 27 or 36 foot.

- Has a locking door and screened oversized non-glass windows for personal protection and to shield residents from wind, rain, and weather damage. The hurricane shutter window covers provide security and fold-down to become tables for a variety of uses.

- Pressure treated raised lumber floor on steel frame keeps all belongings dry, and protects the owners against illness from standing water.

- Impervious to insects. Will not rot. Will not allow vermin to infest or nest.

- Now comes with a 30-year warranty.

- Affordable in bulk, and will not need to be constantly replaced, like tents, framed canvas and lesser housing units made of plywood or inferior materials.

- Environmentally friendly and completely recyclable, moveable, transportable or reusable!

- The base model is outstanding but our tier one option model adds solar electric power lighting, ceiling fan, a porch extension, water cooled roof, an enclosed cistern system and more, to provide Haitians with solutions for their sanitary needs.

- Tier two option model includes an indoor toilet, sink, plumbing, fresh water filtration and bacterial treatment to provide consistently clean drinking, cooking and bathing water.

HaitiHouse™ is a division of luxury houseboat manufacturer, Harbor Homes LLC. In response to the global demand for permanent, safe, efficient and affordable disaster housing has released its PermaShelter™ brand line for purchase by government agencies, charities, mission groups and other involved in the Haitian recovery effort.

The Hart Lyman Companies LLC and its principals have developed a wide array of real estate and investment projects over the past thirty-five years. Their strategy has both a national and international reach. Their long-term relationships with numerous Fortune 500 companies include Walgreens, General Electric and M&T Bank, just to name a few. They have been responsible for the development of over 75 ground-up projects in the past 15 years including (but not limited to) environmental clean-up, demolition, entitlement processes and all aspects of construction. With extensive experience in real estate development, renewable energy, industrial product supply and distribution among other industries, they possess a broad-based grasp along a dynamic spectrum of businesses. This diversity enables us to analyze projects and opportunities from a wide range of capabilities.

[February 8, 2010 - Thomasville, GA USA] Announcing the FlatPackQuad™, instant village building solution from HaitiHouse.org.

The HaitiHouse™ division of our company, Harbor Homes LLC, (http://www.haitihouse.org) is the creator of the HaitiHouse™ FlatPackHome™, the FlatPackQuad™, the cargo2™ container series of bunkhouses, showers, kitchens, laundry, and office units, FEMA approved travel trailers, park models, mobile homes and support facilities for use as temporary AND permanent shelters.

HaitiHouse™ has developed the next generation of disaster recovery housing, the FlatPackQuad™. These homes are being produced to address the pressing needs for safety, security, home establishment and preparation for hurricane season in Haiti.

We saw one of our paramount tasks to be to design a way to create entire new villages, quickly and easily, in cooperation with families and neighbors, so they can reclaim their lives and freedom, living in a more secure environment.

REBUILDING ENTIRE VILLAGES IN A DAY IS POSSIBLE
We were already manufacturing a home that folds out in 15 minutes, packs down to less than 10 inches and fits 16 to a single cargo container. The HaitiHouse™ FlatPackHome™ is 7’6″x18’9″ long. There is also the 39 foot long version.

For the second generation we wanted something that could help address security needs, and the FlatPackQuad™ line was born. It creates private interior courtyard spaces for residents. Our unique FlatPackHome™ and FlatPackQuad™ are engineer certified to withstand 130 mile an hour winds and has a Seismic D rating. People are safer in such structures. The entire integrated raised floor frame sits on the ground with clearance for water to pass through but it does not have to be set up on blocks as the shelter in the photo you show.

Plus, the HaitiHouse™ products are rated for 30-year use, are fireproof, waterproof and impervious to insects and rot. You can a time lapse video of a FlatPackHome™ being assembled with a wrench and a ladder by a few men in 15 minutes from placement on the ground at www.youtube.com/haitihouseorg1. And because all walls and roof elements of our home are pre-joined by industrial steel hinges, welded and integrated to the galvanized steel studs that encase the entire structure, our HaitiHouse™ does not rely on small pieces of hardware, properly installed to hold pieces together after arrival.

Our products are long-term solutions for Haiti resettlement. In fact, we are already shipping container support units into the country for distribution.

Our FlatPackQuad™ concept allows residents to establish their home with neighbors in a few minutes, then they will have space to store valuable commodities in an inner courtyard, work, and go about daily tasks – safely. Now, a few families can band together, create their interior atrium space with our products, still have their own individual house for privacy, yet share a common area to conduct daily tasks.

Washing, cooking, storage, building a small craft/repair or other business is possible in a safe area. Children can play within sight without outsiders having access to them while parents are busy. The laundry can be hung and kept safe. Supplies can be safely stored. And in common, the families can grow raised bed vegetable gardens in the protected area, helping to establish a better diet.

Our “whole house” ready-to-deliver approach is more sound to quickly house one to two million people. Various organizations we are supplying agree. Once assembled it provides complete protection to the inhabitants with sealed screened windows and doors.

We currently supply the World Health Organization, several combined Church groups, and other entities. We are a long-time and current FEMA vendor ready to create several hundred to thousands of homes every week, and have even begun direct shipment to avoid the damaged port in the Haitian capital. We are confident that our established designs and approach will become the standard in this crisis, as we are one of the leading disaster recovery housing specialists in the world.

CONTACT US TODAY for more information on the FlatPackQuad™ series!
If you are a part of any organization or know one that could benefit from our support or they need to find custom portable buildings for relief efforts, please contact our company directly. Thank you.
